On 10th January 1836 first human cadaver was dissected by Pandit Madhusudan Gupta and others against all prevailing superstitions and taboos at Calcutta Medical College & Hospital, first of its kind in India . 2011 is the 175 Years of the same. Ganadarpan in collaboration with Calcutta Medical College is going to commemorate The Day with proper dignity. It is celebrating the day since 1987 as Anti-Superstition Day-cum- Social Dissection Day.
This year, on 13th November 2010, at B M Konkanwadi Ayurveda Medical College, Belgaon, Karnataka, Dr. Mahantesh Ramannavar has created history by dissecting his father’s body. This is first in India and second in the World that one has dissected one’s father’s body. The first such thing was done by Dr. William Harvey in the 17th Century AD.
There is more in the store of history, e.g. Sushila Devi, widow of the deceased Dr. Basavannepa and the mother of Dr. Ramannavar, was present in the dissection room althrough along with other faculty members, and supported the son’s action. Ganadarpan is very much overwhelmed with the same and feels proud of having an opportunity to felicitate both the Doctor and his mother. In response to our invitation they have given there kind consent to accept our felicitation at Calcutta Medical College, Kolkata on 10th January, 2011 at 10.00 AM.
We shall be thankful if you/your esteemed organization shoulders the trouble to help towards successful implementation of the programme.
You are also requested to be present in this historical event.
Your active support will be highly appreciated.
